Modern Slavery Statement
This statement sets out Managing Our Mental CIC’s actions to understand all potential modern slavery risks related to our organisation and to put in place steps aimed at ensuring there is no slavery or human trafficking in our organisation or supply chains. This statement relates to actions and activities during the financial year 2023–2024.
As part of our sector, we recognise that we have a responsibility to take a robust approach to slavery and human trafficking and we continue to take our responsibility very seriously.
Managing Our Mental CIC is fully committed to preventing slavery and human trafficking in its corporate activities, and to ensuring that its supply chains are free from slavery and human trafficking.
Organisational Structure and Supply Chains
This statement covers the activities of Managing Our Mental CIC, a community interest company registered in England and Wales.
We follow a risk assessment process to assess whether any particular activities are high risk in relation to slavery or human trafficking. Following our review, we have not identified any activities that are at high risk.
Responsibility for our anti-slavery initiatives is as follows:

Policies: Our policies are subject to consultation and ratification.

Risk assessments: All activities are risk assessed and monitored for risk.

Investigations/due diligence: Trustees are responsible for investigations and due diligence in relation to suspected instances of slavery and human trafficking. Any concerns will be escalated to the Chief Executive Officer.

Training: Training is delivered through our internal workshops and Learning & Development framework, ensuring our staff and volunteers can better understand and respond to risks of slavery and human trafficking.
Relevant Policies
We operate policies that describe our approach to identifying modern slavery risks and preventing slavery and human trafficking in our operations. These include:

Whistleblowing Policy: We encourage all workers, volunteers, service users, and business partners to report any concerns without fear of retaliation. Concerns may include circumstances that could increase the risk of slavery or human trafficking.

Employee Codes of Conduct: Our codes outline the expected actions and behaviours of staff and volunteers, reinforcing high ethical standards across all areas of our work and supply chains.
Due Diligence
We undertake due diligence when engaging with new suppliers and regularly review existing suppliers. This includes:

Mapping supply chains to assess geographical or product risks.

Evaluating slavery and human trafficking risks of each new supplier.

Conducting supplier audits or assessments where risks are identified.

Ensuring compliance with labour standards and modern slavery legislation.

Invoking sanctions, including termination of contracts, where suppliers fail to meet required standards.
Performance Indicators
To ensure effectiveness, we have set the following KPIs:

Training
We require all relevant staff to complete modern slavery training. Training covers:

Purchasing practices that prevent exploitation.

Reporting and escalating concerns internally.

External support resources, such as the Modern Slavery Helpline.

In addition to formal training, we raise awareness of modern slavery issues by including information in staff handbooks and internal communications. This includes:
